SARI

Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman berkhasiat obat. Penelitian oleh Amelia (2010: 1) menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak albedo buah durian memiliki aktivitas antijamur Candida albicans. Jamur Candida albicans merupakan penyebab utama terjadinya kandidiasis kulit sehingga untuk pengobatannya,  ekstrak albedo buah durian diformulasikan dalam sediaan gel. Basis sediaan gel yang dipilih adalah Carbopol 934 yang memiliki karakteristik lebih baik dalam menghantarkan senyawa aktif dibandingkan basis CMC-Na dan HPMC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi dan pH Carbopol 934 dalam sediaan gel ekstrak albedo buah durian sekaligus menentukan formula dengan aktivitas antijamur Candida albicans dan karakteristik fisik yang optimal. Ekstrak albedo buah durian didapatkan dengan cara remaserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 80%. Ekstrak diuji aktivitas antijamur Candida albicans ATCC 10231 dengan metode difusi sumuran di mana konsentrasi ekstrak yang optimal diformulasikan dalam sediaan gel. Formula optimal berdasarkan Factorial Design yakni konsentrasi 1,426% dan pH 8,00 yang menghasilkan rerata diameter zona hambat 13,3096 mm, viskositas 452.000 centipoise, dan daya sebar 6,011 cm. Pengujian Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) dan Angka Kapang Khamir (AKK) memenuhi standar cemaran mikroba sehingga menjamin aktivitas dan stabilitas sediaan gel selama penyimpanan.

ABSTRACT

Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) is one of herbal plant. Study by Amelia (2010:1) explained that durian rind extract has antifungal activity towards Candida albicans. Candida albicans fungi is the main cause of candidiasis, thus durian rind extract was formulated into gel for this treatment. Carbopol 934 was chosen as basic gel which has good characteristic for delivering active substances than CMC-Na and HPMC. This research aimed to examine the effect of concentration and pH Carbopol 934 thus determine formula which has antifungal activity toward C. albicans and physical characteristics were optimal. Durian rind extract were obtained by remaceration tehnique with ethanol 80%. Extract was tested for antifungal activity by diffusion method which is the optimal extract concentration was formulated into gel. The optimal formula of Design Expert were concentration of Carbopol 934 1,426% and pH 8, that has average resistibility zone diameter 13.3096 mm, viscosity 452,000 centipoise, and dispersive power 6.011 cm. Testing of Standard Plate Count and Mold Yeast Count fulfill the requirements of microbial contamination which ensure both activity and stability of gel during storage.
